Someone Is Wrong on the Internet
I was following links around today, and I came across this brain-hurting screed against contraception. Don't worry, I read it so you don't have to, and I've carefully selected a few choice facepalm moments for your delectation. Enjoy - or not.
Warnings: misogyny, racism, mention of eating disorders, stupidity
According to Ms. Smith, contraception is like:
-robbing a bank!
-putting poison in your orange juice!
-taking steroids!
-putting a... paper bag... over your hair...?
-Bulimia. (I just. I have no words.)
Some other highlights:
-overpopulation isn't a problem, and we have plenty of resources.
-contraception causes violent crime
-everyone was so much more moral in the good old days.
-having a baby makes you a better person. Like magic!
-the pill will make you fat. And depressed. That's if it doesn't kill you, obvs.
-I don't actually have any proof of this, but I'm going to state it as fact anyway. Finding studies that support my conclusions is so hard, you know.
-"cohabitation [before marriage] is another of the real clear signs that [a] marriage isn't going to work." (wha...?)
-having sex for pleasure is against Natural Law. Because as we all know, you should only have sex with someone if you're willing to stay with them for the rest of your life and have lots of cute babies with them.
-"humans are radically different from animals." Because we have speshul God sparkles.
-white babies and black babies are two different categories
-"God made the universe for human life. And He wants souls. He wants lots of them." (... to... eat? O.o)
-a laughable understanding of genetics: "If you want a Nobel laureate, you go to Stanford. If you want a hot whiz kid from MIT, you go to a clinic outside of MIT. If you want an east coast, Ivy League whiz kid, you go outside of Harvard."
-and math: "Most women, in fact, 50% of women who start on the pill..."
-and biology: "If you've ever looked at the chart of a female hormonal system, there's three major ones as far as their reproductive system is concerned. And they go up and down like peaks and valleys and they crisscross."
-women are stupid and irrational.
-women only want sex for the purpose of keeping their man happy.
-men make money, women spend it.
-contraception will ruin your sex life, and make you unhappy.
Also, lady? Stop repeating yourself. Stop repeating yourself. It's not a good rhetorical technique, it's just annoying. It's just annoying.
Sheesh.
PS FOR SHEER LULZ VALUE: "God has said, 'I want to be there at the fertile time. I made the fertile time for bringing forth new human life. If you engage in the sexual act, I want My option of making new human life. But I gave you a half of a month, three quarters of a month, where you're infertile and if you want to pursue the bonding power of the sexual act without babies, do it then. I'm asleep. I'm out of town. I don't expect to be invited at that time. I'm not around. You can't even make Me come. I won't come. I can't.'" *snigger*

Also, not sleeping with dudes? No no aliaras, you have to get married and have babies in accordance with God's Plan! You must fulfill the Sacred Trust of motherhood! Don't even talk to me about sleeping with women, ugh. That's just icky, and besides, it's just as bad for you and for society as contraception. God wants your gametes!
